About Me

My name is Imelda Murillo and I started teaching in Franklin-McKinley School District in 1996. I have taught preschool and 1st-6th grade. I enjoy every grade level because of the unique development of each age group. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child Development and Psychology from San Jose State University. My teaching credential is from National Hispanic University. I have a master’s degree in education from UC Berkeley. I believe that my role as a teacher is to create a love of learning in every child.

I was born in Ayotlán, Jalisco, México. My parents brought me to San Jose, California when I was 3 years old. I love the city of San Jose and have seen it grow from "The Valley Of Heart's Delight" to "The Capital of Silicon Valley." I take pride in our city and our community. I love learning and studying different cultures. My favorite subject has always been history, especially the music related to different time periods. I enjoy yoga, hiking, dancing, watching TV, running, eating, and reading. Spending time with family and friends is the key to happiness.
