Santee Bears Learn to "Expect Good Things!"

Santee Bears of all ages enjoyed a captivating video production involving outstanding visuals and sound presented on a 43-foot wide video wall.

The lesson of the video, "Expect Good Things," is that we should not always expect good things for ourselves, but we should expect good things from ourselves. Instead of operating as if we are the center of the universe, we should think of how we can be our best selves. We can be polite and honest, demonstrate gratitude, and help others. Bullying is not a good solution to life's problems and we need to look deeply at why some may exhibit bullying behaviors - they could be in need of love and friendship.

After the powerful assembly, teachers were invited to discuss with their students the key topics of the assembly using questions like, "What good things can you do to help others have a better day?" and "Does anyone have a friend that can't do everything you can do? Have you thought about ways to help them?"

It is important that we continue these conversations moving forward, so that our students can reflect on how they can be their best selves.
