Santee Bears Celebrate Read Across America

During the week of February 26, Santee students wore different articles of clothing each day honoring Dr. Seuss' big hit titles such as "The Cat in the Hat," "Green Eggs and Ham," and "Wacky Wednesday." Thursday, students across grade levels met to read their favorite books to one another, and the week's activities culminated on Friday, March 2 - National Read Across America Day. TK - 6th graders gathered in the cafeteria to watch their favorite teachers read the book "Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun" and preview books recommended by one student in each grade. The day ended with special guests from the community, e.g., firefighters, Superintendent Juan Cruz, and former first grade teacher Amy Lee, reading their favorite books to the students. Thanks to the Read Across America Committee for an exceptional week!
