Not only are the Presidential elections being held nationwide on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 but there are also elections being held at Santee Elementary on that same day! Ms. Murillo and her 5th grade class have put together this election and a voting center as a part of a culminating activity to their project-based learning unit.
Ms. Murillo stated, "This is an example of Santee students and the political process in action! They are learning the right to exercise their vote at an early age."
Students will be responsible in casting their vote for U.S. President/Vice President, State Assembly, school president, school vice president, school secretary, and school treasurer.
Early voting occurred on Monday, November 7th for some classes and the remaining classes will vote on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8th. The results of the election will be posted as soon as all of the ballots have been counted. Good luck to all of the candidates!
