Dear Franklin-McKinley Community,
Today, the Santa Clara County Public Health Officers, in collaboration with the County Superintendent of Schools have made the unified decision to extend school closures through May 1, 2020 to slow the spread of COVID-19 to the maximum extent possible. This was a regional decision which also included the Bay Area County Agencies and their Public Health Officers.
Franklin-McKinley School facilities will remain open to staff for the purposes of performing tasks deemed essential by the school district and county office of education. Education will continue through flexible learning, meals will continue to be provided,
During this time, we ask that students, parents, and staff continue to adhere to the “Shelter in Place” Orders issued by the Public Health Officers on March 16 and stay home except for essential activities until further notification from the local health department.
In addition, all students, parents, and staff are urged to keep practicing the guidance provided by Public Health Officers including:
- Social distancing
- Washing hands often with soap and water
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
- Staying home if you are feeling sick
- Contacting your healthcare provider if you are experiencing any symptoms such as fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.
- Engage in regular exercise or physical activity
We will continue to follow this coordinated approach and directives from the Santa Clara County Public Health Department, County Office of Education, and the aligned Bay Area regions. Franklin-McKinley School District will continue to support our students, parents, and staff during these unparalleled times in public education. We must all do our part to keep each other safe and healthy. Thank you for your time and attention.
