About Me

My name is Julie Muonio. I was born and raised in East San Jose. I come from a family of 11 children. Six of us are teachers. I went to Overfelt and Independence High Schools. I attended U.C. Davis and graduated with a degree in psychology. My father was a farmer and my mother was a teacher in a one-room school house in rural North Dakota before they moved to California. I’m married and I have two children. I have a bilingual teaching credential in Spanish.

I enjoy teaching. I love to teach children to read and how to draw. I love to have my students do a lot of artwork in my class. I enjoy seeing how my former students have grown up and to see how successful they have become.

I grew up poor but was loved by my parents. My mom used to buy us books at Goodwill and always took us to the library, so we always had books in our house. My dad passed away when I began college and I once had four part-time jobs to support myself through college. I worked really hard to get through college. My message to students is to be resilient, to never give up, to believe in yourself and work hard to get a great education!
