On Friday, May 24, Santee students and staff gathered to celebrate the launch of Air Jordans created in honor of Ms. Wright, also known as SP Gina ("Shoe Palace" Gina). The extraordinary event, hosted by Shoe Palace, featured guest speakers Principal Maria Reyes, a spokesperson from Nike, football player Marcel Reece, Shoe Palace Vice President John Mersho, and the guest of honor, Ms. Virginia Wright. 

 

Students were on cloud nine as they rotated through stations where they received an Air Jordan backpack full of surprises from Shoe Palace (including Ms. Wright's signature shirt), colored Ms. Wright-inspired artwork, collected autographs from NFL players, our favorite celebrity - Ms. Wright, and the designers of her shoe, and put their basketball skills to the test on our new basketball court, gifted by Shoe Palace. The company also presented each of our basketball team players with a pair of brand-new shoes and will re-design our school's library this summer. 

 

We are so excited and proud of the recognition Ms. Wright is receiving! We couldn't think of a person more deserving of such an honor! Thank you Shoe Palace for your generosity towards the Santee community. This has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will never be forgotten.
